Most of us seem to go through a period of "disjointedness" between our childhood and adult state. You have captured this very well in your story. It is very difficult to pick up the threads of what ever was left unpursued in the early teens. But a sense of regret develops and persists as we get older. It is a very important but a very private feeling. We are often afraid it may trivialised by those with whom we may choose to share it. My compliments to you for a well writtten piece.
