I read your poem and I am so sorry your childhood memory is not a happy one.
Your poem is well constructed, dark and complicated but something many can resonate with, including myself. Amazing how our suicidal thoughts start so young, isn't it?
I hope you are doing well now and have found or created memories or life you enjoy.
I love the imagery that takes place in this poem. I mean I don't love that there being a fire in Baltimore, but that you gave a clear picture as to what was happening. I great ode to the heroic firemen who were there fighting that fire as well.
This story held an interesting contrast of a woman in a relationship with a man in modern day NeW York and a developing relationship of that in Viking times.
I found the contrast to be extremely interesting!
Although the behaviors to the Vikings bewildered and confused me, what confused me more is how 'Valerie King' said yes at the end.
As a heavyset person in modern day, it is not easy dealing with people's commentary. It was neat to read about a time where this particular body type was desired, however definitely still wouldn't want to be treated in such a barbaric way.
