Dear Pony Tale,
This probably explains Asperger's Syndrome in the best possible way! And I should know, I have it. It's not the fact that there's anything wrong with us, we are simply different in an odd but wonderful way. And people simply have to peel back the bruised and battered skin to find it! The syndrome mostly affected me when I was young, but I have obstacles from it even to this day! It's mostly social, but I still feel like I have a missing arm when I'm around people. The other one-fourth is an intelligence barrier. You see, I am not a genius by any means, but I might just be surrounded by people who have nothing more to do in life than look at their phones. Perhaps I'm smarter simply by comparison, or they haven't unlocked their true potential. I'm guessing the latter. I'm afraid I'm a bit old-fashioned for my age, and a lot of people find it one of two things: condescending or charming.
Past all of my blabber, I have to say that this poem is very well written. The rhyming and beat is straight out of Willy Wonka's brain. I actually wondered if you stole this from a children's book! All of it is simply delightful! Just a single, minuscule thing though, that I have to share with you. Poetry, as I found out the hard way, doesn't require commas. In fact, that's the entire reason people use poems to make points! They don't have to have any sort of punctuation or go by the dictionary. I love finding new ways to say things. Who cares if I don't have exactly ten verbs in a paragraph? So this is simply something that you don't have to do. Please write more, because I am as hungry for your literature as Oliver Twist was for porridge! So please, sir or madam, may I have some more?
With all due respect,
BattlingBard
Oh goodness. I have never had such an experience, but I feel like I was there. Chills, many chills down my back. This was very detailed and seemingly accurate. I know it was all in your head, but I was prepared to hide under my bed covers! I am so glad that you opened up, even to a little site like this. Keep going. You can get through this! Perhaps writing is truly your calling and quite the coping mechanism.
I must say, as a poet, this is wonderful. I am usual partial to rhyming, because, after all, I am a bard. But just as not all humans are the same, poems come in all shapes and sizes...and you have proven that to me. I to have trouble with anxiety and being alone. I know that it is hard to express yourself in this cruel fate which we call reality. Sometimes it feels as if you are weighing them down to the point of destruction. To do this, with fear in mind, is something to be proud of. You seem like a very brave soul who simply wants to be heard. Continue the writing, the songs of emotion you do. I shall be waiting.
Sincerely,
BattlingBard
