My writing is paralysed. I can't get a word past the clamouring voices in my head telling me I'm wrong. Show, don't tell, no adverbs, sensory cues, three act structure, scene structure, staying in voice, action/reaction, sentence length, choppy sentences, everything I write is wrong.

How do you ever finish anything with all the rules competing to stay your hand?

Just get it out of your head no matter what it looks like. Then once it's out in front of you, it's easier to make the edits and work on it til it feel better*Smile*
Remember, some of the greatest authors broke the rules!

Hey! Just wanted to welcome you to WDC! *Smile* I noticed that you entered "Supernatural Writing Contest - ClosedOpen in new Window. this month, and if you're interested in the horror genre you might want to check out "SCREAMS!!!Open in new Window....there are weekly and monthly challenges set to different prompts, and they may be fun to write for.

And if you have any questions at all about anything WDC-related, please don't hesitate to ask! If I or anyone else is unable to answer your questions or help you out, it's likely we'll know someone who can. Hope you enjoy your time here, and best of luck to you! *Bigsmile*
