I just posted the first chapter of FREEDOM CALLS.

It is revised but still a rough draft.

I would love some feedback.

I just finished the first draft of my story TIME QUEST. I am having a difficult time

starting my second draft. Any suggestions?

Wait.

Don't revise straight away - give the story time to breathe in your head, and time for you to forget what you've written so you hit the next draft with fresh eyes.
I definitely agree with what Santeven Quokklaus Author Icon said about waiting. Another bit of advice I might suggest would be to retype the entire thing as though you were transcribing it. Correct any typos and grammatical issues that managed to make their way into your first draft, and make notes of any ideas that come to you while retyping. Go over the ideas to determine if they improve the story, and if they do, figure out how to work them in. Dismiss them if they seem to only be chasing rabbits with no real purpose.

Also, if you have someone you trust to give you honest feedback, give it to them and let them read through it warts and all. You can then take their feedback to improve the story. In essence, this is kind of like seeking out a beta reader, but usually, beta readers don't get to see the story until it has gone through at least a second draft, so perhaps this would be an alpha reader?

What a huge task to recreate your work from over the span of years. I am happy you found WdC to use to write the stories. Thank you for reviewing my picture. You needed to sleuth to find it. hahaha You are welcome to use me as a resource if you need to know something.

Hi, nice to meet you.
Welcome to WDC.
It's a pretty good community here. I'm sure you'll find plenty of fun stuff to read.
Welcome to WdC!

When you find a person you want to keep up with, be sure to double click their plus sign as below. (No obligation to double click mine. I'm just showing you. But, of course, if you want to, I won't stop you. lol)

If you single click it until you see the finger with the string, you'll set them as a favorite of yours, but they won't know. If you double click until you see the megaphone, you become a fan and they are notified. This is preferable because some folks, like me, reward new fans. Others will automatically fan you back. Most don't do anything, to be honest, but it's good to give them the chance. *Bigsmile*

If you want to keep track of an item--contest, challenge, etc., don't double click the plus sign on the bitem (big item) link you see such as below.

That fans the owner, not the item. To fan the item, you need to click the link and go to the item, then double click the plus in the upper right corner of the item, not the plus next to the person's name below the title, etc.

You can find people and things to enjoy on the Community Newsfeed. Click Newsfeed on the left. This will take you to your Personal Newsfeed by default. Here you will see official WdC notes as well as things posted by people whose plus you have clicked once or twice. Along the top of your Personal Newsfeed, you'll see "View the Community Newsfeed." Click that to see what everyone is posting (within your rating limit), not just your tiny corner of WdC. Scroll, Like comment, and start making friends! *Hug1**Smile**Hug2*

Again, welcome to WdC! *Smile*
