Chapter 1: The Bounty

All her life Quarts was saw as the bad apple of the family. The screw up. The hussie. Even at family gatherings family members would make ‘jokes’ saying ‘so how long was your longest jail stay?’ or ‘Do you know the names of the police officers now’. They were just jealous, Quarts would remind herself, they’re just sad they don’t get any action.
They didn’t know what she was really doing out there. Sure she was late for curfew but at least she was going to bed knowing that her sacrifice would make a difference in the morning.
A loud knock on the door alarmed the whole house one early morning. Quarts’ mom went to open the door. When Quarts walked out to the living room she wasn’t expecting to see a mandalorian. They were rare to see nowadays and when one was in town it usually meant no good
“Mom who is this?” Quarts asked.
Her mother turned her head to Quarts and said, “Thats her.”
The green Mandalorian turned his visor her way and Quarts couldn’t move. It was like his very blocked gaze stunned her, he turned towards Quart’s mother and nodded to her before walking up to Quarts who stepped back but it was too late. The Mandalorian grabbed her wrist, put her arms behind herself and cuffed her.
“Mom!” Quarts hissed, “Mom what-“
“You are no daughter of mine!” Her mother spat, “I never raised you to be a delinquent, yet now you’ve done it. Your out of here, Quarts.”
The Mandalorian begin to haul her out, one hand on her shoulder one on her cuffed wrist.
“No! After all I did no!” She screamed, “You wouldn’t have half the money you have now if it weren’t for me!”
The Mandalorian was not phased and just dragged her out. Quarts’ mother stayed far from her and watched, with disgust.
“I’m your daughter! You can’t do this!” She called, the bounty hunter continued to drag her out and to the landing platform that was made for speeders and hovers. When her mother was out of sight Quarts knew it was over.
She hadn’t even realized she had started crying… Her own mother, betrayed her. And now she was the concern of the bounty hunter. His ship was red and green with a trandoshan in a yellow suit and rifle standing outside.
“Shit…” she mumbled.

The hope to save Liam was lost. the poison had already taken effect- his eyes were going red, his body was pale, he was in pain, and a few of her veins had gone black.
He laid quietly, fear was long over due now, now was acceptance. Acceptance of death, loneliness, and the cold that was embracing his body. Closing his eyes, numb and exhausted, Liam just wanted it all to be over.
“Liam!” Called a voice.
Tears welded up in Liam’s eyes and streamed down his face.
“Liam!” The voice called desperately, loud foot steps running through the halls.
Calvin wouldn’t find him, as least not in time.
A zap of pain shot through Liam and he gasped before felt it all go cold.

“Liam!” Calvin cried crashing doors down, rushing through hallways- tears falling down his cheeks.
He needed to find him, he needed to fix this himself, he couldn’t loose Liam again.
“LIAM!” He screamed.
Where could he be? What is he doing? Did he leave?
Oliver ran in behind him, “Did you find him?” Oliver cried.
“Does it look like I found him, dammit?!” Calvin shot.
Oliver looked around. His eyes landed on the grey door, where he found Liam years ago crying, hurt, and scared.
With a shaky hand, and prayers going through his mind, Oliver opened the door. He held his breath as he walked up the stairs to the attic room.
“Liam…” Oliver cooed, as he turned the corner, he let out a broken sob.
Liam laid peacefully on the floor. Oliver got down on his knees beside him, put his head on his lap and softly sobbed.
“Good job Liam…” He choked, “I’m so… So proud of you. You tried for so long and did all you could. Your gonna be ok, I promise.”

Calvin ran up,”LIAM?!!”
Oliver cried softly, Calvin ran over, falling to the other side of Liam.
“No… No- dammit! Liam…” Calvin cried.
“He went long enough in pain Calvin,” Oliver said voice pained, “He went for so long, he did his best.”
Calvin cried but knew there was no use in saying anymore.
