Here are some things to check out to help you get acclimated: "Writing.Com 101" "Noticing Newbies" "Information For Writing.Com Newbies" "MechGrammical" "Newbie Welcome Kit" "Content Rating System (CRS)" "Noticing Newbies Newsletter (November 4, 2020)" Everyone here is very helpful, so feel free to ask questions, anytime! Two quick suggestions before I dash off for the evening:
1- Hang out on the Community Newsfeed (as opposed to your Personal Newsfeed). The Community Newsfeed -left menu bar, click Community, then Community Newsfeed at the top- will show you everything that's being posted by members - okay, maybe not everything depending on how your content rating (see: "Content Rating System (CRS)" ) is set in your account settings. But in the Community Newsfeed, you'll see more of what's going on and get more exposure to your own craft. (Your Personal Newsfeed only shows posts made by your Favorites. See #2.)
2- When you find someone whose posts you like or find helpful, become a fan. Click twice on the outlined plus sign beside their name. Clicking once = a finger with a string tied around it, which makes them a Favorite. Click again = a megaphone: now you're a Fan. Fans get benefits you won't get by favoriting someone: they'll get a notice telling them you're a fan (instant name recognition), many will fan you back, and some are quite generous, giving fans Gift Points (GPs) and even Merit Badges from time to time.
Actually, a third suggestion is to review other writers' works. Look at WdC101 important and useful instruction and recommendations on reviewing - and a mint of other helpful stuff to help you get more comfortable here:
