Yeah... and he may be prez again. He gets away with everything. It's his greatest talent. That, and instilling fear... and lying.

I think... Harris/Walz (a.k.a Brat&brats) needs to be ahead by 5% or 8 million votes to squeak by. If they don't get ahead by more than 3% in Congress, they will get little support from there.

But Americans vote out of fear. There are many who fear the raising cost of food (it is), the price of gasoline (because...), and criminal immigrants stealing their last piece of pie (they aren't... and they aren't).

DJT is running scared though... The forecast for November is stormy.

The homeless camps will be relocated away from decent folks and equipped with tight security. Out of sight, out of mind!

The LBGQT policy will be don't ask, don't tell, don't be. Everyone will display cultural unity or go to jail. Out of sight, out of mind!

Women will be confined to their homes unless accompanied by a male guardian. No more worries about career or politics. Out of sight, out of mind!

State media will show only positive images of the great Amerika. No more coverage of urban crime, civil unrest, or climate disaster. Out of sight, out of mind!

Saint Donald the Martyr was crowned pope/king/heir-apparent to the papal-state/kingdom/empire of the CMTA, the successor to the failed USA. E Pluribus Unum will be replaced by We Are Saved (We... not you), the Constitution replaced by the Bible-according-to-some-Christians (but not others), women will be put in their rightful place, minorities will bow to the Almighty White Man (God/Jesus is White), science will be subservient to theology, abnormals (trans, queer, etc) will have no rights. The State will be Loyal to Saint Donald the Martyr. Any servant must be loyal. Anyone not speaking English will be suspect. Anyone without American born parents will be suspect. Deportation of suspected undesirables will be a.s.a.p. The new King will give commends and cannot be questioned nor removed without a violent uprising. The CMTA will be a fortress nation.

The God-appointed, Saint-anointed theocracy will not be known as Atwood's Gilead, rather the Christian Military Theocracy of Amerikkka.

I agree with you about family activities dying in most households. We don't watch much television but we do play a board game while having our evening dinner meal. It encourages us to eat slower and to have interesting conversations.

It did get me thinking though. The Beatles trip to America (la reconquista?), George's interest in South Asia (and 'strange' instruments like the sitar), John's relationship with Oko... all very new and strange at the time. England was just opening up.

My thoughts:
You can drop 'the cost' at the end of line 5. (line's a tad long)
Yes, he-who-should-not-be-named really won't face himself and admit that he might, just might, be wrong. (line 8)
I don't think of the courts as belonging to Biden (no suggestion as to what word to replace it)...
...and I really don't think it's political as much as the wannabe martyr cries that the prosecution is persecuting him. Yes, he's a loathsome loser. Yes, he keeps on lyin'.

Bonus points for not mentioning his name.

I have no such stories. I grew up in a factory town and we listened to the radio every time there was enough on the ground to hope...

But if I had to crawl to school I probably could have. It was a 5-7 minute run with my wet hair freezing along the way.

They were sometimes cast in the role of 'blunt object' in a murder mystery (the only thing you can murder with a smartphone is a person's reputation).

At my age I'm becoming less protective of my privacy; but, recent world events have brought to light the need for more privacy, not less. Nations are becoming very protective of their image, and journalists or even common citizens with an opinion are the target of their wrath.

Video of Floyd's murder was appropriate imho; but, mere finger pointing to destroy another's reputation (or false accusations like Giuliani did) is NOT.
