All her life, Supriya had heard the phrase “Don’t be silly.”

"Mom, I want to join art classes."

“Don’t be silly.”

"Mom, I like the blue dress better than the red one."

“Don’t be silly.”

"Mom, I don't like pineapple, please order strawberry ice-cream for me."

“Don’t be silly.”

So now, composing this note to her mother was easy. She didn't have to ponder what words to use. It took her hardly a few minutes to write.

"Mom, Ken's at the door and I'm being silly enough to go with him. He's already got the marriage license and the preacher. I've called my big brother Tushar to give me away and he's been silly enough to say yes. In my usual silly way, I'm borrowing - taking, actually - your best suitcase since I think I'll be living out of a suitcase till we get a place. Please be silly enough to consider it your wedding gift to me. Love from your ever-silly daughter, Supriya."
