"September 5, 2018" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Let's discuss this quote. " I could not agree with Dr. King more! The minute we quit speaking out about things that matter we die a little inside. What is the point in having a mouth if we are not going to use it to speak out against the evil of the world? I am a Christian, called to teach people the truth of God's word and the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am duty bound to speak out against evil. If I do not then I am guilty of condoning the evil. I have to admit however that I find it much easier to attempt to ignore the evil. It is hard to stand up even when doing so is the right thing to do. Nobody wants to be viewed as a snitch or non-conformist. It's much easier to ignore the evil than to do something about it. We're all guilty of this. How often do we listen to a racist or dirty joke and laugh with the crowd even though we find it offensive and know we should not participate? Doing the right thing is a tough choice! It's easy to know what's right but so much harder to do it! ![]() ![]() It means to be able to reach inside of oneself and find the ability to face whatever challenges one faces. I am resourceful because a lot of my strength comes from Jesus Christ. He has unlimited resources and allows me to draw on His strength to do the right thing. Even then I often fall short because of pride and other human failings. I want to do things on my own or I'm afraid I will offend somebody if I speak out against wrong. "To bad" the Lord says, "go ahead and offend them." Yet I often fall silent. Resourceful means the ability to get the job done. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
"September 4, 2018" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What do you say?" Not to take anything away from Dr. Einstein but he could not possibly have known true beauty because he was an atheist. True beauty to me is the ability to pray to Jesus Christ who loves me with confidence that my prayers will be heard and answered. True beauty is the one on one fellowship with Jesus that comes from being sold out to Him. No atheist can experience these things because they come only by faith and grace. How could Einstein know anything about them? I suggest that he was short sighted in this regard because Jesus did not fit into his analysis and equations. We cannot know Christ with the mind but must know Him with the heart for He is "foolishness to the wise." ** Image ID #1971783 Unavailable ** "Prompt: Talking about word plays, Albert Einstein said, “Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted.” In how many ways can you decipher this quote? Any additional ideas to it?" Again I think Einstein was to smart fort his own good. He was so smart that he dismissed God as fantasy and that isn't very smart. There are plenty of important things that can be counted. Our souls for instance are important and they can be counted as er each have one. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
{entry ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I believe it is important for all writers to be able to write poetry. Poetry is a form of art measured in words and syllables. True writing involves more than merely putting words on paper. It involves being able to write in every genre with ease and comfort. image:1997652-20%} Prompt: September 3 is both Labor Day and Skyscraper Day. Write about one for both of the subjects in today's blog entry. For a list of the world's tallest skyscrapers: http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreholidays/September/skyscraperday.htm I am no expert on skyscrapers. In fact the highest I have ever been up in one was 22 floors. However I felt like a skyscraper today because a woman at my church gave me a wonderful compliment. I had taught a Sunday school class using only my Bible and the woman told me she wished I were the pastor of the church for she had just learned more from me in an hour than she had our pastor in six months! I felt 100 feet tall! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
"September 1, 2018" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The planet we live on often will often defy logic. People can be very shallow at times and are usually self-centered to the core. My dad always said to give them enough rope and they would hang themselves. I never wanted anybody to hang themselves. I just wanted to badger them until they complied. Now I have high desire for the human race. I want to win them all for Jesus Christ. Even if they smell like garlic I do not want them to face Jesus' reprimand! ** Image ID #1971173 Unavailable ** Prompt: "Let's consider this on creation Saturday for discussion. Dorian Gray, written by Oscar Wilde, is the subject of a full-length portrait in oil by Basil Hallward, an artist who was impressed and infatuated by Dorian's beauty; he believes that Dorian's beauty is responsible for the new mood in his art as a painter. Through Basil, Dorian meets Lord Henry Wotton, and he soon is enthralled by the aristocrat's hedonistic world view: that beauty and sensual fulfilment are the only things worth pursuing in life. Dorian expresses the desire to sell his soul, to ensure that the portrait, rather than he ages and fade. Dracula, Bram Stoker's character also had the capability of never aging. Have you read both books? Were you aware of the similarity in their two books? Do you think Wilde and Stoker influenced each other's work?" I have never read either book nor have I any desire to do so. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
