"Prompt: When you say you will pray for someone do you follow through? If not why not?" I discovered that if somebody asks me to pray for them it is best that I do so on the spot. If not I am likely to get side-tracked and forget to do so. I am very absent-minded because I usually have two olr three things going on at once. Yesterday, IK discovered that I had sat down at my computer the day before with every intention of sending out the blog prompt for my other group. Apparently I started to work on next week's Sunday school lesson instead because it popped into my head and I entirely forgot what I started to do! I am very forgetful. Therefore when somebody asks me to pray for them I usually do so immediately. I was taken prisoner by the Romulans yesterday. Spock brought a rescue mission to retrieve me. Quite honestly, I recall typing the prompt yesterday. I must not have sent it. I probably got called away suddenly, then when I came back I forgot what I was doing. I have four work stations so it's hard to say. I guess your captain is getting old! Today's prompt is Ernest writing about daddies. Tell us about your dad or if you are a dad, what is that like for you? My dad worked hard all of his life. Though he cheated on my mother more times than I can count, he never left her. One woman wanted him to leave Mom and he dumped the woman immediately. He was a scoundrel in a lot of ways but I have deep love and admiration for him. |
image:2227275-75%} "Prompt: Do you find it easy or hard to share your faith or beliefs with a stranger? How about an acquaintance, friend, or family member? Why or why not?" I try very hard to preach the gospel every day and everywhere I go. Once in a great while, during the week, I break down and use words to preach. I almost always preach verbally on Sunday evenings, but during the week I'd rather preach with my actions. This is both for strangers and acquaintances. Some times I declare I am developing early dementia. I will sit down to do something and end up doing something entirely different. I remember siting down yesterday to send out the prompt for today because I was preaching last night and immediately got sidetracked! Dee writes

"Prompt: Do you believe that there really is a hell? Why or why not?" Yes. I believe there is really a hell because the Bible says there is one. If one carefully reads Revelation 20:14 we find that hell is not the lake of fire, but rather the abode of the dead. In a sense, we all go to hell because we all die. We do not all go to the lake of fire, which is the second death. The lake of fire is reserved for Satan and those who choose to follow him by rejecting Jesus. "Prompt: I was cruising the galaxy with Jane Way, Data and Spot, the cat and we landed on this planet: Fyn writes of lilacs and boundaries in
Write about this in your Blog entry today. We had a lilac that bloomed beside our house every spring. For a long time my brothers and I mowed it down because it was quite small, basically a twig sprout. Mom fussed at us enough that we finally let it grow and after one summer it was too big to miss. |
"Prompt: Do you consider yourself to be more “spiritual” or more “religious”? How are they different?" I think these are excellent questions for self-reflection if a person has the capacity to be honest with themselves. Personally I try to be more spiritual without neglecting the religion. Jesus did not condemn religion. He condemned religion done for show. Religion in itself is good but if we practice it and leave out the spiritual we are falling short. The religion means that we do the "good works" associated with God. We keep the commandments. We tithe. We do all the things we should do. Spirituality however means that we apply the religion to our hearts. Spirituality is an inside job. This is why Jesus condemned the Pharisees. They knew all the right actions and their actions with the exception of the ones they did for show, were good. What they lacked was spirituality. Their hearts were unchanged. Spirituality means that a heart is loving. It puts others ahead of itself. I was cruising the Galaxy with Grumpy Woof and found this planet: Rhyssa writes bitem:2007742} Write about this poem in your Blog entry today. I always loved Dr. Seuss. I heard he was once in a mental institution because his family thought he was insane for wanting to write such "outrageous stories." He laughed all the way to the bank! |
"Prompt: Is it better to pray with your eyes open or closed, and why? Do you have a favorite prayer stance or position?" I think that is a matter of personal preference. I really don't believe it will send you to hell one way or the other as long as you reverence God. Prompt: "Today we were still experimenting and investigating near a black hole. Then we went to a star base to download information. On the way we saw a star. kevint writes about a city of sin. Tell us about a city of sin. There are cities of sin. Just down the road from where I live is a strip bar where women dance naked. Prostitution is rampant and the town of which we are a suburb basically has one of the worst opioid problems of any city in the country. But aren't all cities "cities of sin?" We live in a fallen world after all. |

I think the moral fabric of man is in decay. Do I think people still value teachings found in the Bible? The question is did people ever truly value them? If they did they would have obeyed them a long time ago. Man is a depraved creature who will one day kneel and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. For now the only hope man has is a change of heart, which does not appear to be forthcoming. My favorite flower is the daffodil. They are the first flowers of spring and often the first sign of spring. Winter is depressing to me because everything looks dead. The after a long, depressing winter, the daffodil springs up giving me renewed vigor and hope. Image #2251074 over display limit. -?- Image #2187503 over display limit. -?- |

Why?" My favorite promise from the Bible, aside from eternal life, is "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13. I find that this promise holds true. I have never encountered a problem that God could not conquer through me. God does it. I am only the conduit. I could no more take credit for it than a piece of wire could take credit for running an electric motor. I play a role but God does the action and gets the glory. Love to me is a verb. It is not a mushy feeling. It is an action. Love is putting somebody else ahead of myself. The needs of the object of my love become more important than my own selfishness. Image #2251074 over display limit. -?- Image #2187503 over display limit. -?- |

Why or why not?" I was going to try to stay away from controversial subjects but yes, I believe it is wrong to get an abortion no matter what. Adoption is always a solution. Some say that rape is a good reason to get an abortion. The baby did not rape anybody. It is innocent. Punish the rapist. Incest is cited as a reason. Again the baby did not commit incest and we are all products of incest.
