I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done.

I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them.

I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC.

I don't think I knew that ink coloring pencils existed. I'll have to look into them. Unless you mean markers? I do have those.

You have a lovely mix of coloring books.

A fruit tree orchard is a dream of mine too. We do have a cherry tree but it's more ornamental than productive. I had planted some fig trees but an overzealous helper thought they were weeds and killed them.

We have robins and red-winged black birds all year here.

I have two ginger cats, both are male. Macavity is 11 and Pumpkin is 3. Both have very strong personalities.

My son raises chickens and this young kitten appeared out of now where one afternoon. My son saw the tail up following the chickens around. He didn't give it much thought because he figured it was the neighbors kitten. He discovered the kitten in the henhouse nestled in the hay with one of the chickens. He put it outside and shooed it away. Only to find it there in the morning, so he called the neighbor who said they didn't have any kittens.
The kitten did live long in the henhouse because once my grandson saw the kitten he became a member of the family. His name is Tom, he still hangs out with the chickens during the day but comes inside to get dinner and sleep with CJ.

We had 3 sets of encyclopedias, 2 newspapers daily, one on Sunday. We didn't have many magazines and very few books.

So, I read a lot... just not much that was fluff or gossip.

I remember Prince Valiant. I like some political cartoons.

kare. Get a ski pole. It is what I use in winter can dig into snow and ice. Shows me snow depth and helps me have good footing on ice. Found mine years ago in the local Good Will store for cheap price.

Merry Summertime

Prompt: Christmas in July. Do you do anything that is Christmas related in July?

When Christmas in July comes around, I always think of starting the gift buying for the real season of Christmas. Whenever I can start shopping for the season early, I'm really happy. I always thought that is why manufacturers started Christmas in July. To try to cut down on the last-minute rush of shoppers at the weather inhibiting shopping time of the year.

Use these words in your blog: cart, hierarchy, warm, predator, institution, block, mix and think. Have fun!

The hierarchy of institutions can be predatory. A human predator is often difficult to spot. Cart out the think part of your brain. When the weather is too warm, we lack the initiative to listen and sometimes block our intuition. Mix up the air with a fan or some other cooling apparatus. (The last three days are heavy with heat and thunderstorms. The weather this year has been uppsy doosy. Just got an email from the electric company about not using to much electricity because of the heat. I'm trying to decide if a load of wash, two running fans and the computer are classified as too much for one afternoon.

Interesting choice of word list. Keep Cool.)
