I was born in Yorkshire, in a tiny village by the North Sea. It was the kind of village which tolerated tourism with amused contempt. We took acertain pride in our impenetrable accent and dialect words. Sadly, I left for civilisation and University and have forgotten all I knew, though the accent makes a reappearance now and again. Civilisation has been pretty kind to me and I found gainful employment teaching in London, after several tedious accountancy and disastrous sales jobs. Life is good. |
