I just graduated from Ferris State University with a degree in criminal justice. I live and work in Michigan. I've always enjoyed writing stories and am looking for a cool place to submit some of them. I also just finished and self-published my first novel, a middle-grade horror story in the same vein as the Goosebumps series. |
I'm a pretty casual writer. I like writing with a beer in hand and some classic rock music in the background. |
I'm not sure... I always find it hard to describe what my writing style is. Maybe someone out there can tell me. |
Apart from the obvious (writing) I also enjoy watching films, listening to music, and my job. Big beer connoisseur. Now that I've graduated I'm trying to land a solid career and spending more time with my hobbies. |
Horror, mystery, thriller, crime. |
My top 10 with only one per author permitted. We Have Always Lived in the Castle, Child of God, The Shining, The Island of Doctor Moreau, Dracula, Rats, Alice in Wonderland, The Plague, The Call of the Wild, Day of Infamy. |
H.P Lovecraft, E.A Poe, Shirley Jackson, Walter Lord, Cormac McCarthy, Stephen King, Albert Camus, H.G Wells. |
Apart from some of Poe's stuff, I haven't really read much poetry. |
"Write drunk; edit sober" - Hemingway |
Music taste is all over the place. I listen to everything from Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and the Grateful Dead to Arcade Fire, Kendrick Lamar, and The War on Drugs. I do have a record player and a budding vinyl collection. |
Huge film buff. My favorites are the Asian exploitation films from the 60's and 70's. They're absolutely insane but a helluva lot of fun. Titles like "Terrifying Girls' High School" and "Female Prisoner #701" may give you an idea what they're like. |
I don't watch too many shows. Love the shows by Damon Lindelof. For those who don't know, he's the writer behind "Lost", "The Leftovers", and the HBO "Watchmen" adaptation. Also enjoy classic "Twilight Zone". |
