Summary of this Book...
This book is about three best friend, one who owns an inn and one who cooks for her at the inn. The third friend stops by for a visit, and in the morning is found brutally murdered, neck slashed and blood everywhere. We find out that the friend who cooks at the inn didn't really like the visiting friend, and she knows about a secret involving her that the inn owner doesn't know. There is a lot of speculation as to who killed the friend and why. And the plot twists in different directions as the investigations are carried out.
I especially liked... | ||
the twists in the plot, and also how fast paced the story is.
I didn't like... | ||
the book held my interest most of the time. Characters seemed flat, though. All we ever know about the MC's 2 best friends is that they are her best friends from university. We aren't made to feel the deep relationships. What was truly annoying for me were all the sentence fragments. If they are used in dialogue, that's one thing, but this was throughout the narration of the story. There were grammar errors and spelling mistakes also. The main character repeatedly spoke of her husband who left her years ago. That fact was thrown in at very random spots throughout the book. I imagine he will resurface in one of the subsequent books.
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
avoid reading anything else by this author.
The n/a of this Book... | ||
did a poor job on the writing, as mentioned above, because of the mistakes in the writing.
I don't recommend this Book because...
although the storyline was ok, there are so many other books that are much better to spend time reading.
Further Comments... | ||
I found this book hard to finish. Clues to the mystery weren't scattered throughout the book, but revealed by the MC one at a time (giving the reader nothing to uncover). By the time I had 30% of the book remaining, I kept falling asleep, trying to finish it. The ending definitely left things open for the second book, Digging For Trouble.
