Summary of this Book...
Back of Book Blurb (Typos included): Home Economics Kitchen Skills is an easy and precise way to help train up your daughters in the art of cooking. It is presented in weekly format and gives you all of the information and tools necessary to teach for one semester of school. It begins with the basics and builds upon each skill with new levels of learning. It includes over 170 personal favorite recipes from the authors large family kitchen. It is meant to equip your daughters to give them purpose and know-how in the home. Everyone needs to eat, but not everyone is skilled in cooking. This book will give you a foundation in learning how to prepare nutritious and delicious meals.
This type of Book is good for...
Don't let the sexist title fool you, this book would be good as an introduction to cooking course for girls or boys.
I especially liked... | ||
This is actually my favorite out of the books I've read so far. Along with practical advice about food and kitchen safety, it also has many handy references and basic starter recipes, which I found useful.
I didn't like... | ||
"Unless you live in or have visited a third world country, most of us have no idea what it is like to not have a refrigerator." This opening sentence really rubbed me the wrong way. Another in the blogger's series of Books That Should Have Been Edited.
This Book made me feel...
I was pleasantly surprised that I learned a couple of new things after reading this book. I didn't even want my money back this time.
The author of this Book...
Amy Maryon is a blogger mom that enjoys living a simple life and training her ten children.
I recommend this Book because...
It's better than her other books. More useful and less sexist.
I don't recommend this Book because...
It's not worth the $15 price tag. Especially when you can get the same information for free on her website.
Further Comments... | ||
There is no Volume 2. I assume "Train Your Daughter" series is just the two books she wrote for her daughters. There's a third book that combines them called Home Economics Household Skills: Becoming a daughter of purpose, which I am reviewing next.
