Summary of this Book...
This is a romantic suspense story from the Harlequin Intrigue line. It tells a rather unbelievable tale about a defense contract gone wrong and three people out to figure out how to either saved loved ones or themselves, and then how to prevent the danger from becoming an even bigger problem once they realized what it is. The two main romantic characters in this book are Claire, a super computer programmer, and Brayden, a partner in a high level security firm and ex military member. It also highlights Brayden's sister, Echo, and her police officer love interest, and Brayden's business partner, Gage, and his wife Lily. So I'm guessing that the other two couples were featured in earlier novels in the series. I believe this book is part of a series called "Security Breach" but I haven't read any of the other books in the series.
This type of Book is good for...
People who don't need plausibility to be part of their paranormal suspense reading.
I especially liked... | ||
Brayden and Gage's characters. The little bit I saw of Lily's character. There was a good degree of suspense. SPOILER ALERT That the good guys win in the end. The ones that survived, anyway.
I didn't like... | ||
It wasn't very romantic. There was lust and confusion but really it wasn't romantic until near the end. SPOILER ALERT - don't read any further if you don't want spoilers. I found a lot of things totally unbelievable about this story. I do believe that a government would contract a virus to disable the enemy. I don't believe that it would turn people into gifted paranormal beings with no bad side affects. I don't believe that Claire really would have gotten away with pretending to be Brayden's wife. Or that Brayden would have gone along with it so long after he figured out that she wasn't his wife. Or that they would have gotten away so easily after the framed killing. Or that Echo's cop husband would have let Brayden go. Or that a sister would be so willing to give up her brother to the police. That's just what comes to the top of my mind.
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
Read a better paranormal romance.
This Book made me feel...
Incredulous. Though with the corona virus going on right now I guess I should be glad it wasn't more realistic.
The n/a of this Book... | ||
I think this is the first book I read by her. She could have made this a lot more believable. She did write some good action scenes.
I recommend this Book because...
It's an okay story with a lot of action.
I don't recommend this Book because...
There are far better stories out there.
Further Comments... | ||
I picked up the paperback copy of this book a long time ago. It was on the bottom shelf (last one to go, I think!) of the bookcase I use for books I bought super cheaply, planned to read someday then giveaway. It's going in the charity bin. I hope the next person enjoys it more.
