Summary of this Book...
A young man in love with a young woman -- what could go wrong? A curse-spouting gypsy, a passel of conniving "interested parties," and an ominous dying architect, to name just a few. Someone intends harm to the young couple. Amid the sea of suspects, can they make a safe haven of their home on Gypsy's Acre? When all is done, will they want to?
This type of Book is good for...
Those more interested in light psychological thrillers rather than traditional mysteries. Also, someone who is already familiar with the works of Agatha Christie might like this as one of her "different" offerings.
I especially liked... | ||
The setting of Gypsy's Acre -- Christie was definitely trying to set up a "gothic romance/horror" vibe.
I didn't like... | ||
The very "light" mystery elements. No crime was actually committed until nearly the end, so what clues there were had no context that allowed the reader to "figure things out." Frankly, the book dragged until the murder. Also, she tried reusing the literary device that she used in The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, but this one didn't work nearly as successfully.
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
Move on to some of Christie's better mysteries.
I don't recommend this Book because...
This really isn't the best book Christie ever wrote -- if I'm going to recommend one of her pieces to someone who has never read her, it definitely would not be this.
Further Comments... | ||
As a psychological thriller of the descent-into-madness sort, it's not so bad, but there really weren't enough clues to what was going on to make the reveal satisfying.
