Summary of this Book...
I bought this book because I knew of the author personally. I was a student and he was a teacher a long time ago, not my teacher, but we would nod and smile at each other as we passed in the halls of knowledge. I never knew his story, but when I saw the name I figured I would read and learn. What I remembered most about the man (since I didn't have him as a professor, my loss) was that shy warmth in his smile. His smile as a young child is what reached out to me from the front of this book again, all these years later.

As a very young child, through his wits, guardian angels and the guiding hand of two of the most resourceful people on the planet as parents, he survived the horrors of the Nazis in Auschwitz and other places. Then to think of all the good he has done with his life. It's astonishing. This would make a wonderful movie if Hollywood had the sense to tell stories anymore.

There is something magic about this person and the warmth of a child's forgiving (more than an adult would be) point of view in some instances. Read the book and look at the cover and you will see what I mean. Magic and inspiring is this tale, whatever language is used.

I will never forget his story, now that I know it. Maybe I found the book when I was ready to read it.
