Summary of this Book...
Oh wow. This book tore at my heartstrings. It is beautifully written, and the characters are so vivid. I must admit I was a little unsure when I realised there are three characters’ points of view, plus a narrative looking back at 1988. I thought it may get a little confusing, but it didn’t. It completely works. This isn’t a book with a giant plot line and hundreds of things happening all over the place. Rather, it’s a story of a what it’s like to be human, to have family and relationships. It’s about wasting too much time being angry, when you never know what lies ahead for you. And, oh my goodness, that twist around half way through! I did not see that coming. But it made total sense. It took the story in a different, much deeper direction. This is a lovely, beautiful, entertaining book. I love Hannah Beckerman’s writing style. She pulls you in close as she whispers the story into your ears. Love it!
