Summary of this Book...
This is a story of strength and determination. It is a story about an old man's struggle to catch a giant fish alone at sea. The old man, Santiago, had gone without catching a fish for 84 days, the worst form of bad luck for a fisherman in those parts. The reader is gripped with tension and wills the old man to succeed. Although the old man is alone at sea, the old man's dialogue with himself makes it seem that there is more than one person involved. From the story, I could feel the strength and determination of both the fish and the old man; the fish unwilling to be conquered and the old man, unwilling to give up.
I especially liked... | ||
I liked everything about this story. I loved Santiago's attitude to life and the boy's kindness to the old man. Somehow, I wished things could have ended up differently for the old man with the fish.
