This is the second book in the Maisie Dobbs detective series. The character of Maisie and Billy Beale (her assistant) are becoming more detailed and likable as the series goes on.

This involves the disappearance of one woman and the murders of three others. Maisie has to figure out what the four women have in common. What she finds relates to the tragedy that is WW I. Her own experiences help lead her to the truth about her assistant and the actions of the victims involved.

It wasn't exactly a page turner, but I am enjoying getting to know the characters. I have a feeling that this series (which is already good) will keep getting better and better as we go.
