Brokenwood Mysteries is a tv detective series, set in a small town in New Zealand, somewhere north of Auckland. The series follows Mike Shepperd (Neill Rea) and his assistant Kristin Sims (Fern Sutherland) solving a variety of murders. The episodes follow the tried and tested method of coughing up several possible perpetrators for the audience to puzzle over, but otherwise is entirely fresh and original.

Anyone who enjoys murder mysteries.

Watching the working relationship between Mike and Kristin develop, and seeing the wonderful details defining the different personalities, like Mike's love of vintage cars and country music, and Kristin's fondness for strong, very strong coffee.

Excellent cast.

Original stories, great relationships between the characters, and believable, likeable characters. And the unlikeable ones are still convincing.

Conceived by Tim Balme, NZ screen writer and actor, who also wrote and acted in another fantastic NZ series, The Almighty Johnsons.
