Summary of this Book...
The true story of a 19th century French woman is brought to life in Flaubert's Madame Bovary. In this novel, Emma Delamare becomes Emma Bovary and as the wife of a provincial doctor, she is bored and later disgusted with her life, it is a tragic story. In order to escape her dreariness, she first acquires lovers and then immense debts (due to her extravagance and her lavish presents to her lovers); which in turn results in bankruptcy and her subsequent suicide. This is an excerpt of an essay book review written by myself for a University literature class. There is also a good movie about it.
