Summary of this Book...
My 9 year old grandson came to visit last month. He convinced me to read the first book in the Harry Potter series and then to watch the movie. The book is about a boy who grows up in a family that doesn't want him. He doesn't realize he is a wizard until he is 11 years old and the message gets to him that he is wanted in a school called Hogwarts. He is something of a celebrity and the book follows his journey to his first year at the school. There are lots of adventures and misadventures as he searches for a Sorcerer's Stone and believes some of the faculty are sources of evil doings. They are, but not exactly in the way he imagines. Using owls to communicate is a bit of fanciful whimsy that adds to the delight of the adventures. I enjoyed reading this book very much and will continue on with the series.
This type of Book is good for...

Further Comments... | ||
This book is a quick read as I wanted to read on to what would happen to Harry. Harry and Hagrid are my favorites, along with Hedwig, the owl.
