Summary of this Book...
How do these things work? Where do they come from? What would life be like without them? And what would happen if we opened them up, heated them up, cooled them down, pointed them in a different direction, or pressed this button? In Thing Explainer, Munroe gives us the answers to these questions and so many more. Funny, interesting, and always understandable, this book is for anyone—age 5 to 105—who has ever wondered how things work, and why.
This type of Book is good for...
Parents, writers and everyone else who is suddenly stuck trying to explain something.
I especially liked... | ||
It was very simple. Almost too simple but it was fun to read and relearn things I already new.
I didn't like... | ||
It needed to be bigger. More things to explain.
I recommend this Book because...
It is really helpful as a parent and a writer to explain things and as a reader and a thinker to look at a object with "another set of eyes"
Further Comments... | ||
Don't make the mistake I did to "Overthink" things. One goal of this book, even if it isn't clear at first, is to make one step back and look at life, a object, situation, etc, as basic and simple as one can. Imagine explaining a sub to a child or someone from another country. Once taken it is basic, must simple form it makes perfect sense. I made the mistake of opening the book in the middle, reading about a object and tried to analyze it in the way I was already thinking of it. Just don't do that.
