Set somewhere in the near future, 17 year old Penryn, her disabled little sister Paige and her troubled Mother are hiding out in their home after the World has been attacked by vicious, vengeful angels.

Deciding to make a run for it, Paige is captured by one of the monsters and Penryn makes it her desperate mission to find and rescue her.

She finds Raffe dying in the road - having been attacked by his own kind who have maimed him by amputating his wings - Penryn feels no remorse for him but thinks he may be able to help her find her sister and rescues him. The two strike up an unlikely companionship, reluctantly protecting each other even though their species are arch enemies - but in the end, will they really be able to protect each other from evil forces stronger than them both......
