Summary of this DVD... | ||
A loving Indian family is run our of their home by terrorists who set fire to their restaurant, killing the mother. The family relocates, eventually, to the South of France where they open a restaurant in a small village right across the street from a snooty restaurant run by a rich French woman, played by Helen Mirren. The eldest son becomes an outstanding chef under the tutelage of people who care about him. There is trouble between the restaurants until Mirren's character figures out that the way forward is together as a team. This movie was produced by Oprah Winfrey and Stephen Spielberg for Dreamworks. It is heartwarming and the performances are outstanding.
I especially liked... | ||
the heartwarming aspect of the movie and the emphasis on the food and the spices and flavors. This is the type of movie Hollywood used to make when they still told good stories in the past.
This DVD made me feel...
like eating. The food looked delicious and the cooking scenes made cooking look very appetizing in its own rite.
The cast of this DVD... | ||
is outstanding. I had never seen most of the cast before, as they are mostly Indian, but they were wonderful, every one of them. And, the Indian actresses all have a beautiful, unique look, unlike American actresses who tend to all look alike now. Helen Mirren was outstanding and her French and the accent were perfection.
I recommend this DVD because...
it will touch your heart, if you have one.
