Summary of this Book...
Anne Shirley has six children--Jem, Walter, Nan, Di, Shirley, and Rilla--and is now married fifteen years to Gilbert Blythe. This book’s content has more to do with the Blythe family’s next door neighbor the new Presbyterian minister John Meredith and his children in relation to the Blythes, but it also tells in great detail the second marriage of the minister to Rosemary West, whose sister almost makes this union impossible. During this intriguing period, the Blythe and Meredith children get into mischief, making the community feel John is not a good parent. Yet, as in all L. M. Montgomery stories, all is well that ends well, and the story is finished on a happy note. As in the earlier books, Montgomery’s storytelling is exquisite and the content of her work is squeaky clean. One thing I have noticed in the style of the author is that, despite the purity of the content, she doesn’t talk down to younger people in almost monosyllabic words as a less experienced writer would do, but she respects everyone’s intelligence and just tells a good story. The result of that is, I've never thought I’d enjoy this much to read novels directed toward eight to twelve year-olds.

It is a relaxing read since there is nothing in it to keep the reader at the edge of her seat. I'd say read it when you need to calm down.
