Summary of this Book...
A single mom thinks she knows her teenaged daughter, Amelia. Amelia is a beautiful girl and a great student. Suddenly, one day her mother, Kate gets a call from her daughter's private school. Amelia is being expelled for cheating. When Kate arrives at the school, she is told that her daughter is dead, having jumped from the roof of the school. Kate knows better than to think suicide, but it takes it a while for things to really sink in after the shock. The book is about a parent getting to know their child through social media, after her death. Things are not what they have seemed.
I especially liked... | ||
the characterization of Amelia and how some of the story is told through her eyes and some through her mother's. Their perspectives are quite different.
This Book made me feel...
I don't know how it makes me feel. I chose to read it because I am coping with a death in my family that was assumed to be suicide, but lately looks more and more like something else.
I recommend this Book because...
it is a good story, well told. I saw a lot of reviewing comparisons to Gone Girl. This is nothing like Gone Girl, really. I don't get the comparisons. This book's ending was decidedly better for me than Gone Girl's.
