"The Children of Men" is a future fiction story set in a time where mankind has lost the ability to reproduce. The last baby in the World was born 25 years ago and the human population is gearing up for extinction.

The main character Theo, cousin to the Warden of England is a middle aged man with a tragic past and an apathetic outlook on life. Then he meets a small group of revolutionaries who not only change his feelings about the way the country is headed, they end up changing his whole life - as well as life on planet Earth as it is known......

People who like to read future fiction and think about the things which could possibly happen in our future and the impact they would have.

The book is written in quite a poetic and descriptive style so it would be good for readers who like this style of writing.

I really liked the idea behind the story - a World where no children are being born and the writers take on how this would affect issues such as crime, immigration, illness and the distribution of services.

I also liked the fact that the book was based in England, being English myself!

I thought the characters were well described, if not particularly likeable....

I found some of the chapters/passages in the book quite long winded and for me they seemed to detract from the point of the story.

I became a bit confused as the book went on as to why some characters were acting in certain ways which were not really made clear.

Although the book was published in 1992, I found the style it is written in to be quite dated. I tend to prefer a more modern style.

Ask the author questions about why certain characters had behaved the way they did!!

A bit depressed.

It is a great idea and tells an interesting - if rather weird - story.

Parts of it can be tedious to read and I found parts of the plot confusing.
