Summary of this Book...
This book is about the normal guys who fought and won in World War II from D-Day until the Surrender of Germany in the European Theatre of Operations. I got the book a long time ago, but was never emotionally ready to read it until now. It came out a short time after my Dad died. My Dad fought in the Battle of the Bulge and the picture on the front of the book of the guy in the left foreground looks like it might be my Dad. I wish I would have asked him about the War, but this book is a good learning tool. Some of it was pretty dry reading, but most was interesting to me. My Dad never wanted to talk about it much, but he suffered through that winter of 1944-45 and didn't return home until February 1946. My Dad was a great guy and I will always love him.
This type of Book is good for...
anyone who wonders about things about World War II. This has a lot of good information in it.
I especially liked... | ||
learning that the guy in the picture was from my Dad's unit. So, it could have been him. I really think it is.
I didn't like... | ||
finding out that the Germans had the early version of drones. That is scary to think of that.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
go back in time to the 20's and kill Hitler and his friends.
This Book made me feel...
like the U.S. is so great to have done what our guys did in that war.
The author of this Book...
has a lot of respect for the normal American soldier, more than for the Generals who mostly come off as morons.
I recommend this Book because...
I learned a lot about it.
Further Comments... | ||
If your Dad or Grandpa fought in World War II, be prepared to be very proud.
