A man (Spencer Tracy) shows up on a train in what looks like a Western ghost town in 1945. Everybody in the town acts like they have something to hide and they do. McReady (Tracy) is looking for someone of Japanese ancestry named Komoko, but no one will answer his questions. Everyone is creepy and nasty.

Tracy figures out what happened to Komoko and it isn't pretty. Turns out in the end that Komoko's son is a Japanese American medal of honor winner who saved McReady's life in the war and he wants to give Komoko the Medal of Honor.

There is murder and destruction and scary threats all throughout this suspenseful tale. It was riveting!

anyone who wants to watch a great movie with a stellar cast and fine performances.

Spencer Tracy and Walter Brennan in their roles. Talk about powerful acting!

Robert Ryan because he overacted the villainous part.

Oh my goodness. There was Ernest Bornine, Lee Marvin, Robert Ryan, Walter Brennan, Anne Francis and Dean Jagger! Talk about a cast and add to that Spencer Tracy and this film has one of the strongest casts ever!

it is a powerful story about bigotry and stupidity that highlights what this country did to Japanese Americans during World War II. It was not a proud time for the country.
