Summary of this Book...
This is the story of the romance and marriage and divorce of Cary Grant (one of my favorite actors) and Dyan Cannon (who became a favorite after her performances on Aly McBeal in the 1990's). This book totally upset me about Cary Grant and his behavior.
I especially liked... | ||
the fact that Ms. Cannon dispels the rumors about Mr. Grant's life prior to meeting her. I always felt that a lot of that was made up rubbish. How could someone present day know whether someone in the 1930's was gay or not. Rubbish. Made up rubbish there.
I didn't like... | ||
what Cary grant did with Ms. Cannon's dog, Bangs. I HATED that. It made me dislike him. Then the LSD and coercing her to do that. That made me think he was a nutcase. I know that he had a lot of problems growing up. They lied and told him his mother was dead and he believed that for 20 years during the formative years of his life. I think it made him a bit of a sadist and a nut his own self.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
I don't know. It upset me.
This Book made me feel...
like Cary Grant could be charming and he could be a monster. He was a great actor. Maybe you have to be a monster to be a great actor.
The author of this Book...
comes across as honest and straightforward. I still am sad about her dog, Bangs.
I recommend this Book because...
if you want insight into Cary Grant, this gives it to you. Would I have rather lived in a dream world and not known what a cruel guy he could be. The answer is yes to that, but now I know it and will never see him in the same light. Poor poor Bangs.
