This 1969 movie is about a radical, narcissistic teacher in a Scotland girls school in the 1930's. She is obsessed with herself and the girls are only a means to an end - promoting her political and romantic ideas.

She ends up literally causing the death of one student and the seduction of another and still cannot see where she has been wrong. I saw this movie a long time ago and didn't understand it. I must have been pretty young to see this. Now I do. It is a stunning performance by Maggie Smith.

like I'd seen one of the greatest performances ever. There is nothing sympathetic about Maggie Smith's character of Miss Jean Brodie.

does a terrific job although the Scottish accents are a bit hard to understand.
