Summary of this DVD...
This movie was made in 1933. It pokes fun at celebrities and their phoney publicists and hangers-on. It is from the point of view of a blonde bombshell star named Lola Burns, played by Jean Harlow. Jean Harlow had plenty of family hangers on who lived off of her. I like this movie and am a big fan of Jean Harlow. It was in a group of movies I got for Christmas. This movie could be about Angelina Jolie with the stupid adoption angle. It is timeless.
This type of DVD is good for...
anyone who doubts whether the whole Hollyweird thing is phoney.
I especially liked...
Jean Harlow with Franchot Tone. When he says he could "walk through her hair" and pays her all those drippy insincere compliments, it is hilarious.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
watch more of my Jean Harlow movies.
This DVD made me feel...
sad because tragically, the whole Hollywood scene ended up killing Jean Harlow at the age of 26. She was only about 22 when this movie was made. Her sponge (all occupy her home all the time) relatives used her up and then didn't take care of her when she got sick. But in this movie, she gets her long lasting revenge on her stepfather, mother and others.
The cast of this DVD...
is very quick talking and funny. I love the three sheepdogs she has too. The thing with adopting the baby was kind of sad, but it reminded me of Jolie-Pitt stupidity and that is why I say it is timeless.
I recommend this DVD because...
If you enjoy old movies that have quick, snappy dialogue and know anything about Jean Harlow's tragic life, this movie is a must-see.
Further Comments...
This is about a sad life that ended way too young. Jean Harlow is just about the most tragic Hollywood figure I know of, but her movies are full of quick witted humor and insights that stand the test of time.
