Summary of this Book...
Written by a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, this book studies the first few years of the Obama Administration with regard to their Economic Team. Everybody on the team is gone now, except for Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geitner. This is a story of a lack of leadership at the highest level of government in a time of extreme crisis. You get an explanation of just how little they knew about what they were doing and who was in charge.
This type of Book is good for...
anyone who wonders why the economy of the United States is still in the tank as far as unemployment is concerned.
I especially liked...
the women like FDIC Chair Sheila Bair and others who tried to speak up and do what the President wanted, especially with regard to Citibank. Geitner and Larry Summers ignored directives from President Obama and did what they wanted to.
I didn't like...
the way the women were treated. Sheila Bair is one of the few who saw the crisis of 2008 coming and warned everyone, including Paulson and Bernanke about it. They blew her off.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
have the election for President tomorrow.
This Book made me feel...
angry. It made me feel like the American people have been so deceived about what is going on in Washington.
The author of this Book...
did his research.
Further Comments...
I only recommend this book if you are interested in what happened and can stand the shock of seeing that no one was really at the helm at a time of this much crisis. Obama defers to everyone else and avoids making decisions whenever possible. He is not a leader, as his trusted advisor, Larry Summers points out, time and time again.

This book was a slow, slow read and it took a long time to get to the big picture. I wanted to see where it would take me, but a lot of it was tedious.
