Five friends from childhood are split apart by a tragic event. Years later they are brought together again by another tragic even - the death of the youngest member of the group.

that it is set in Baltimore Maryland. I think all her books are in Maryland.

the fact that the victim from years ago was black. I thought this was an afterthought and gratuitious use of race that didn't really fit. It didn't matter to the children surely.

tells a good story although I did not like this as much as the first one of hers that I read, which is called "I'd Know You Anywhere."

it is a pretty compelling and relatively fast read.
