Summary of this Book...
The start of a future technological crash. Set in about 5000 years, humans are now 100% dependent on a technology that no one can fix or understand anymore. The world is ruled by an elite group of power hungry and selfish people. They have a disagreement on how the human race should go on and sends the rest of the world in the dark age. They do this to wage their own war that consists of about 12 people. And now only the strong can survive the new dark age with the introduction of Nano-bot altered people ( monsters )
This type of Book is good for...
Reading when you have nothing better to do before bed.
I especially liked... | ||
The last 150 out of 600 or so pages where the real story starts and the political mombo-jumbo is partially forgotten.
I didn't like... | ||
Too much political story line, the first 300 page are about present and past governments. There were a few grammatical errors every so many pages, and the English switched from US to British spelling a few times. It was a long read before the good stuff started.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
The last few pages did make me want to read the next installment, but the first 400 pages made me want to ask for my money back.
This Book made me feel...
Bored at first and hopping for something better on the next few pages. Which only happened at the end.
The author of this Book...
The author of the book is John Ringo. He is called by his publisher, a great military writer.
I recommend this Book because...
If you like historical and governmental type chest slapping, this book may be for you. The plot and sub-plot is well structured in that way.
I don't recommend this Book because...
If you want an action packed book or a mystery, this is not for you. There is no mystery on what will happen and the action is mostly in the end. I personally did not like the over abundance of sex scenes. There is no erotica but there are lots times that it took me out of the story. "Why are they having sex here and now again?"
Further Comments... | ||
In my opinion this book is not very well balanced. The plot and action should be more spread out. 80% was political backstabbing, 10 % was character establishment of irrelevant characters and 10 % was action. In some places the author seamed to be talking to the reader directly and to be voicing his opinions of governments. A few times the character started to speak and then the speaker is lost only to hear the author's voice again. It is not a bad story, just a bit too spread out in some areas and too thin in others.
