Summary of this Book...
Paradise: What Could Go Wrong by Douglas M. Hoy is a rollicking ride through the lives and misadventures of the author and his friends set on the panhandle of Florida. Probably 90% true, (because, I expect, no one would believe that other 10%) the book is more set up in scenarios verses chapters and takes this bunch of practical joke loving gentlemen from morning coffee disasters to boat rides where no boat should travel. Entertaining, this first person narrative is told with a fresh voice that isn't afraid to laugh at itself.
This type of Book is good for...
This is great for a casual read be it on a Floridian beach, a train commute or cozied up in the rocking chair by the fire and woefully far from sea and sand.
I especially liked...
The voice in this book is frank, honest and able to appreciate the fact hat it is the more embarrassing events we experience that become the funniest and most oft told stories.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Meet the author! There was just something about the way in which the stories were old that makes one eel as if they were a part of the adventure.
This Book made me feel...
Good. It is one of those books that just, simply, make one smile. It's funny in the way that he reader is likely to end up laughing out loud as they envision some of the scenarios the author finds himself in.
The author of this Book...
is Douglas M. Hoy, a transplanted Michigan native who now enjoys northern Florida with his band of merry cohorts. He is passionate about the water, writing and surviving more hilarious adventures.
I recommend this Book because...
It is a fun read written with such excellent descriptions that the various adventures (MIS-adventures!)are clearly visualized!
Further Comments...
I rated this a little lower on the scale for length, because when i was finished, I was left wanting still more and thought the book could have been much longer.
