This is the first book in a series and so must grip the reader to make them want to come back and complete the rest. This is especially true if the rest of the series has yet to be released.
This book without doubt achieves that, i was like a little kid having to wait for Christmas. Each day i would check the release date hoping they might bring it forward.

If you like your fantasy and would to like to hear from a new voice then, then i present to you Mr Peter Brett.

The characters in this are not just your standard fantasy fare of heroes and heroines. Characters have flaws and display them in many ways.

I really didn't like having to wait such a long time for the next installment.

Read the next one straight away.

This book made me proud that i had uncovered a new gem like when i first read a Robin Hobb novel.

It is well written, good characterization and an interesting story.
