After a series of apocalyptic events, a man leads his son on a trek across America in an constant effort to find food, shelter and avoid everyone else. Rumors of murders and cannibalism keep them paranoid toward strangers. Only their dream of reaching the ocean and the possibility of finding a better, easier life there keep them following the road east.

Adults due to mature themes

The depth of the characters, they are real, full of personal flaws but struggling to be good people.

Very sombre and morose mood throughout the movie. It occasionally lightens up but mostly the struggle is hard and sad.

Watch it again to gain a deeper understanding of the plot line and intertwined messages.
