This book is written from the point of view of a 14 year old girl named Susie Salmon, who was raped and murdered by her neighbor. She looks down from heaven and witnesses the impact of her death on her family, friends and even her killer.

a great and engrossing reading session. I have read it twice and it was a book I could not put down both times.

the notion that there is some comfort to be found even in the horrific and senseless murder of a child. I read this shortly after my mother died and it was a comforting book then and it is now more than four years later.

the fact that there are loose ends at the end. It was more realistic this way, but I wanted to know somehow that it would be okay for them and for Susie.

read another book by Alice Seibold. Unfortunately, I did not care for her follow-up novel.

tells the story from a completely original point of view. She steps into the shoes of the 14 year old in her desires and dreams. It is mesmerizing.

it is one of my 3 favorite books ever. I simply cannot express how comforting and riveting I found this book during both reading sessions four years apart.

I read the book again because I am undecided on whether to see the film. I love Stanley Tucci's work so I am leaning towards seeing it. I just wanted to make sure that the book would lend itself to a film interpretation. I am still not sure about that, but I am hopeful that it will not disappoint me.
