Summary of this DVD...
Psych follows the adventures of Shawn Spencer, the son of a cop with an exceptionally honed ability to spot even the most minute details that most people would miss. He amuses himself by calling the Santa Barbara Police Department and solving their cases for them through tips and leads that he provides them.

Unfortunately, they begin to suspect that he is involved in these crimes because of the accuracy of information he's providing, so to get out of it, he pretends that he's a psychic, using his skill and pretending to have "visions" about where to find clues, point the police to things they may have missed, etc.

Shawn opens his own psychic detective agency with the help of his friend Gus, a straight-arrow pharmaceutical sales rep who's always getting drawn into Shawn's crazy adventures. Together, they work as independent contractors for the police department, often crossing paths with the skeptical Detective Carlton Lassiter, who doesn't believe in Shawn's psychic visions but can't figure out how he knows what he knows... and his partner, Detective Juliet O'Hara, for whom Shawn has strong romantic feelings.

Each week, Shawn and Gus are called upon to solve another mysterious case for the Santa Barbara Police Department.
This type of DVD is good for...
Anyone who likes to laugh. The writing is incredibly fast-paced and funny, often making pop culture references that will be appreciated by anyone - particularly those growing up in the 80s and 90s.
I especially liked...
Shawn and Gus' friendship is the kind of relationship we all wish we had. They're best friends, who may drive one another crazy... but are there for one another when it really counts. Also, Shawn and Lassiter's contentious relationship is the source of many laugh-out-loud funny lines and insults.

SHAWN: Good morning, Detectives. Collecting money for the Policeman's Ball?
LASSITER: We don't have balls.
SHAWN: I honestly have no response to that.
I recommend this DVD because...
The writing is crisp and clever, the relationships between the characters really develop and grow over the course of the season, and it's just an overall great, fun show to watch.
