Summary of this DVD... | ||
This is a story of a young girl, married about 16, to a man about 50 in the late eighteenth century England. Class and money and appearance are of the utmost importance. Loyalty of a wife to husband are not shared by the husband to the wife. Love is not a factor that women had the chance to indulge in. And this video sadly shows that that the only way for a woman to be of value and worth, for the most part, was to be a mother to a son. However, in this case, the Duchess becomes a nationally known public figure who is beloved by all but her own husband. She endures a painful home life by getting everyone else in society to love her. She finds love herself, but must choose between children and her heart. This is a very well done, tragically poignant story. This is a movie I could only watch once because there is no Fairy Tale ending. This is very real and very true to life, both good and sad. | ||
