This is the story of a soldier who wants to go home and is constantly torn between dropping everything to go home and doing the right thing as challenges are thrown in his path and making his journey slower than he would like.

This is also the story of a woman who stays home and goes from being a belle (albeit a very nice one) to being a ranching woman who has to learn to do many things that were considered unsuitable.

This is story of two people who have to fight hard to keep their love alive, a love based on hearts meeting not the length of time a relationship has. This is a love story that is harsh and joyful at the same time. This is a story of real life and real love and although we don't get the ending we wanted, it is one where love is found and continued onwards despite the harshness of war.

Romance loving people. History buffs. Anyone who likes a good "escape" read.

Contemplative.

If you take this one on a plane, you will likely forget you are cramped and sore and sitting to a snoring person you would rather never see again. It worked for me.
