Summary of this DVD... | ||
This DVD is the movie version of a very controvesial work of literature. Criticized as anti-religious, I must disagree with this view. Through the adaptation process, most of the concepts of god and religion have been removed from the movie, thus making it a friendlier viewing experience for younger audiences. The story is a fantastical jouney of a young girl evading authority using the last artifact of its kind to aid her in her quest. I understand from friends who have read the book that it was not intended to be read by or to children.
This type of DVD is good for...
A good night's fantasy adventure entertainment. Viewers would also be advised to view this movie with an open mind and make their own decisions. Watch it without outside influence.
I especially liked... | ||
Because this movie requires a certain amount of CGI, I liked the fact that it was used effectively but not overused. The supporting cast was also well chosen. Sam Elliot's performance was especially memorable.
I didn't like... | ||
The movie crammed too much into too few minutes. I think something may have been lost.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
Since I was considering reading the book at the outset, the movie increased that urge
This DVD made me feel...
Entertained as any good movie should. I was also very intrigued.
The cast of this DVD... | ||
Sam Elliot(Scoresby), Nicole Kidman(Mrs. Coulter), Daniel Craig(Lord Asriel), Dakota Blue Richards(Lyra; lead), Ben Walker(Roger), Freddie Highmore and Ian McKellen (voice talent)
I recommend this DVD because...
A viewer who gives himself and tha movie a chance can enjoy it at least once.
