Summary of this CDs & Vinyl...
Haunting songs that are a mixture of Latin and tribal music (think African, Maori, etc.) The power trio of Karl Jenkins, Mike Ratledge and Miriam Stockley, produce a CD filled with songs that are bound to soothe the listener after a long day. This can easily fit in the Easy Listening and New Age categories at your local music store.
This type of CDs & Vinyl is good for...
The easy listener or New Age music fan, or simply for anyone looking for something to ease the mind.
I especially liked... | ||
The use of the chorus for some reason. That stands out to me and makes it more poignant. Miriam's haunting voice is appropriate for most of the songs, especially for the very first song 'Adiemus' which is the break-out song in this CD. It's been used in several commercials if I do recall.
I didn't like... | ||
There was nothing to dislike really. All the songs are unique and different in their own way.
When I finished n/a this CDs & Vinyl I wanted to...
Get the very next CD!! However, I ended up getting 'Dances of Time' instead of 'Cantata Mundi'.
This CDs & Vinyl made me feel...
Uplifted. At ease, and it's something I pop into my CD whenever I need inspiration to write or to get into that frame of mind.
I recommend this CDs & Vinyl because...
The very first out of a series, I believe that this is the best and the most defining for Adiemus. It was something new and fresh and the songs are timeless and classics in their own right.
Further Comments... | ||
'Songs of Sanctuary' was released in 1995 by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins and was critically acclaimed for good reason. As mentioned, it is a song that combines a mixture of tribal world music, latin choruses you might compare to sounds being heard in a cathedral, and the poignant melodies of the songstress Miriam Stockley. This is a must get and a great addition to any collection.
