Stephen King gives us an insight to his early beginnings as a writer and summerizes the writing process from his viewpoint. He concludes this book with an editing lesson taught to him by his first editor.

Gaining insights on how serious a writer you are. Helping you define the type of writing you enjoy and encouraging the writer in his or her stylistic endeavors.

Mr. King's style of piercing the glass ceiling for writers starting out in the field. His offering of a writing exercise appealed to the horror/suspense gremlin in me.

Lots of the profanity which is prevalent throughout the book. However, his tone is one of honesty which might cause some would-be writers to over look this short-coming.

Begin immediately with the writing exercise beginning on page 170. This challenged me to look at my writing style from his viewpoint.

Like I could stand a little kick in my complacency. Writing style depends on the person writing and I agreed with Mr. King on this point.

Has published over 30 plus novels primarily in the horror/suspense genres. Mr. King has won many literary awards for his work. After nearly 30 some odd years honing his writing skills, he qualifies as an authority on writing.

This book can teach you many tricks other authors and writing coaches will not. Sometimes we, as writers need a fresh perspective and Mr. King provides such perspective.
