Summary of this Book...
Lucern is an author and something of a recluse. For the past few hundred years or so, life has become a bit boring for him. It's not easy being a vampire... especially when humans have all these weird ideas about garlic, religious symbols and bats. Kate is an editor of romantic novels. Her current challenge is to get this rather stubborn author to do some interviews and preferably sign some books. Her job might depend on it... When Kate manages to drag Lucern to a five-day writing conference, things do not quite go as planned. Why is Luc acting so strange at the awards ceremony? How come he dislikes Buffy the Vampire Slayer so much? And why is it so hard to resist his charms?
This type of Book is good for...
Curling up with, especially in bed or on the couch. It offers a great way to relax and have a few giggles.
I especially liked... | ||
The scene when Lucern watches Buffy the Vampire Slayer on telly, the scene at the Renaissance ball (a classic!) and the scene with the condoms. I really giggled reading those.
I didn't like... | ||
Especially in the beginning of the book, the author has a tendency to inform the reader, rather than letting them experience the story through her narrative. Also, Lucern seems to scowl an awful lot, sometimes twice per page. And sometimes she can be a bit repetitive in describing certain things, as if she wants to make sure she got something across to the reader.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Read the second book in the series, Love Bites!
This Book made me feel...
Entertained. I had a lot of fun reading this novel.
The author of this Book...
She has a lovely writing style, despite the few little things that caught my attention. She's created some loveable characters and has a creative mind.
I recommend this Book because...
It's a fun read. If you enjoy romance novels, especially those that are a bit different, then you'll probably enjoy this book. There are parts where I did giggle out loud and I had a hard time putting the book down to get some sleep. When I finished it, it left me wanting to read more! Always a good sign.
I don't recommend this Book because...
Nothing, really. I liked it.
Further Comments... | ||
The author's take on vampires is quite interesting and novel. Though their origin intentionally felt a bit lame, she's put enough thought into them to make it work. They're very different from the usual Bram Stoker or Vampire:the Masquerade types of vampire. Well done to her.
